Western Michigan Broncos Hockey

Western Michigan University's Bronco hockey team was selected a number one seed in the Worcester regional of the 2022 NCAA hockey tournament, and the third seed overall while, the University of Michigan Wolverines are the overall number one seed of the tournament pairings announced Sunday evening.

It's one of those jobs that just fascinates me. Maybe, you too? Driving a Zamboni at a hockey game would be a dream job for me, right up there with cutting people's hair. It has always fascinated me, ever since I was a kid, even at park district rinks; to be able to hop up on one, and to clean the ice between periods, sign me up.

Western Michigan University President Edward Montgomery announced a loss of $45 million dollars in revenue to the pandemic and the school's closing. This, in turn, has forced a 20% across the board budget cut in Bronco athletics.

It was a statement game, but the Western Michigan Broncos fell short in making one Friday night, losing to the former #1 team, and current #3 team in the country, North Dakota. A tough fought battle but WMU ended up on the short end of a 3-1 score.

While Friday night's Bronco hockey game vs. North Dakota was a nail-biting scoreless thriller going into overtime, Saturday night's game was anywhere close to that, as the Broncos came out and got whupped by the No. 3 team in the country.
