From bittersweet send-offs to tragic deaths, these TV characters deserved much happier endings in our book.

The Walking Dead has reached an age where AMC must naturally consider an endpoint, or at least where stars might jump ship. Even Rick might leave this world behind at some point, and both Andrew Lincoln and showrunners are already considering the possibility.

The Walking Dead has left characters behind before, but few so drastically as with Heath’s abrupt Season 7 departure. Corey Hawkins was busy filming the new 24, but does its cancellation mean the character’s return? Yes! Well … maybe not this season.

The Walking Dead has a grave new threat to face in Season 8. Sure, there’s Negan, the dead and that whole “All Out War” thing, but depth-perception is the real killer. There’s enemies on all sides in new Season 8 key art, and no one seems to agree which way is up.

Time is a curious thing on The Walking Dead, as where some seasons jump months at a time, others pick up seconds later. That’s made Maggie’s Season 6 pregnancy difficult to chart, but word of whether we’ll meet the little tyke in Season 8 might hint at a major change to come.

For the second time this year, The Walking Dead Season 8 is taking a brief hiatus from production. Hurricane Irma has forced a number of Georgia-based productions to close up shop for the time being, including CW series and several Marvel blockbusters.

AMC’s Walking Dead rarely strays too far off the beaten path of Robert Kirkman’s comics, as the recent Season 7 finale proved with the kickoff to “All Out War.” There’s plenty of immediate ground to cover in Season 8, but might the next run bring us to another major story shift from the books? Showrunner Scott Gimple weighs in.

Shared universes wouldn’t be any fun without the potential for crossover, but don’t expect Fear The Walking Dead to start jumping time or continents to hook up with Rick Grimes. Season 2 will again stay clear of the main series, according to Fear The Walking Dead showrunner Dave Erickson.
