Chelsea, Michigan woman Mabel White Holmes created Jiffy Mix, America's first pre-mixed prepared baking mix, to save time and cheaply feed America during the Great Depression.

A few years back, Daniel McKernan quit his job in tech to start an animal sanctuary right here in Michigan. They've saved more than 500 animals in need! The nonprofit was recently featured on Rachel Ray's TV show.
