Skelletones Isn’t Closing Just Moving To A New Home
Skelletones is one of the premier music venues in the area, and last week they made a post which came across as if they would be closing permanently, but an update to their post reveals that although they will be closing their current location, they plan to take some time and find a new home for their music venue.
The Grand Rapids music venue, which has historically been a safe place for high school and college students to hang out in a drug-free and alcohol-free area, has hosted many notable people, including the Grammy award-winning Billy Strings when he was part of the band A Day of Moments.

Now the venue is clarifying their earlier statement, which says that they are not closing for good, but will be taking some time to find the right new home.
No Need To Worry, Chilis Will Remain In Portage
It's not necessarily goodbye, though we thought it might be. Being a "lifer" this is too much in our blood. It's a privilege to serve our scene in some small way. So we'll take some time while we figure out the future. A new place to call home.
As someone in the comment section pointed out, this venue is very important for local musicians and music lovers:
I started going to shows at Skelletones around 2003. Mirf, Annette, and the rest of the crew were pivotal in my early years of punk rock, and the diy community. Skelletones was a positive stepping stone, and a crucial part of who I am today. The people, bands, and expereriences shared, I hold close in my heart to this day. I have no doubt in my mind that their work is not done, and will only have GREAT memories from that space we all called home. -Skip L.
