If you were fortunate enough to go inside the Olde Peninsula Building when O.P. Brewing was still there, then you'll be surprised to learn... it doesn't look much different inside. But rest assured, it's FAR from the same (for the better) with Saugatuck-Kalamazoo opening its doors on the site now.

In fact, they have their grand opening as April 10, but you can visit now.

When I first moved to Kalamazoo, the first beers I had were from Bell's Brewery, but the first brewery I visited was the old Saugatuck-Kalamazoo on Westnedge. I loved the beer, and the food, but when I tried to go back, they had closed, preparing for their move downtown.

Then, everything went on pause for a LOT longer than I think even the people at Saugatuck thought it would take.

"If you'd been in here before, it looks almost the same, but they (Old Peninsula Brewing) had been grandfathered in... We had to fix some structural stuff and bring it all back up to code once we bought it." - Chad Laning, Production Manager

But now, the time has come, Saugatuck is officially open, though it won't celebrate its GRAND OPENING until Monday, April 10.

Nevertheless, signs out front say "We're open," so Laning encouraged people to come on and enjoy the food and beer a little early, and help the staff get up to speed even faster!
