One of the staple businesses of Kalamazoo has recently announced that they've gone through struggles with leadership and ownership, and unfortunately have officially announced that they are for sale. Old Dog Tavern, which has been open for 14 years, has announced in the most brief of ways on their Facebook, that they will be selling the business, by simply posting #FORSALE on their Facebook.

Old Dog Tavern is a restaurant, bar, and venue that was founded in January 2010 by Sean Smith, and it resides in the historic Star Paper Co. building. The Kalamazoo Paper Company was started in 1867 but was damaged in a fire in 1872. Its paper mills were rebuilt in 1873 to make book paper.

Many people were devastated by the news that they would be selling, and very possibly that this could be the end of Old Dog as many residents know it. The tavern has made a massive impact on people's lives, as one person reflected in the comment of their announcement:

Old Dog is what made me decide Kalamazoo was the place for me and my husband when we were deciding where to live. Upon entering Kalamazoo we saw Old Dog & we decided to go. The place was amazing, the people were too. Before I knew it we were doing rounds of row row row your boat by table, and then several people did a shotski. I walked out after lunch telling my husband that this was our place. Because of Old Dog Tavern, I now call Kalamazoo home. Thanks for the great memories

As we know more information we'll keep everyone updated.
