WARNING: Deadly ‘Gas Station Heroin’ May Be Lurking In Michigan According To FDA
You would think that if you went into a gas station and purchased a product that was packaged and sealed, it wouldn’t cause the side effects of an opioid addiction, but that’s apparently what the FDA is warning people about an elixir named Neptune‘s Fix.
Apparently, this product is in liquid form and is intended for adult use only as a fast-acting pain reliever that includes Tianeptine, an antidepressant, as the main ingredient. However, the FDA and the CDC are urging people to avoid this product and any product containing Tianeptine, as it could lead to seizures, loss of consciousness, and death, according to the FDA:

FDA is urging all retailers to STOP selling Neptune’s Fix and any tianeptine-containing products. We are asking that trade associations please share the message above and information below to keep consumers safe.
This is an issue that could get out of control very quickly, which is why they're working so hard to make sure this product is shut down:
FDA is actively investigating new reports in conjunction with local and state health departments. We are also aware that Neptune’s Fix and other tianeptine-containing products are sold illegally online and in other retail locations. At least twelve states have banned the sale of tianeptine.
Luckily, Michigan is one of the states that made the sale of tianeptine illegal, but much like any other illegal substance, it's possible it could still make its way around the state in nefarious ways.
According to the CDC, the clinical effects of tianeptine abuse and withdrawal can mimic opioid toxicity/withdrawal.
