Inaugural Kalamazoo Beer Fest Is Coming May 6th

So much history with beer and breweries in Michigan happened in West Michigan. Obviously, Grand Rapids holds the title of "Best Beer City," but Kalamazoo is no slouch. In fact, if it weren't for Bell's Brewery in 1985, we might not have brewpubs in the state to this day.

Well, thankfully, people have recognized that Kalamazoo needs its own recognition, and this year will mark the inaugural KZoo Beer Fest.

Saturday, May 6th, breweries from around Kalamazoo will gather at Homer Stryker Field (assuming it's still not underwater) for the first-ever KZoo Beer Fest.

"This festival will feature 25+ Michigan Breweries and 100 craft beers. If you're looking for something else, we have you covered by offering cider and spirits. In addition to the great beer selection, we will have food trucks, live music, vendors, and more!"

Tickets are already available with different packages:
General Admission: Entry at 3 p.m., Logo Souvenir Glass, 10 Sampling Tickets
VIP: Early Entry at 2 p.m., Dated Souvenir Glass, 15 Sampling Tickets
Designated Driver Tickets: Entry into the festival

At the moment, the festival is still in its infancy (despite it being less than a month away), and a lot of the details aren't known yet. However, we do know that proceeds will benefit Friends of the River, which is a non-profit organization that works to improve water quality, access, and awareness on the rivers of Michigan.

This is great news for Kalamazoo, which is already known for its unique festivals, and its beer and spirits culture. Combining the two just seems like a no-brainer.
