What!! The Polar Express Isn’t Michigan’s Favorite Christmas Movie
I am incredibly passionate about this!
Wishlisted came up with a list of Christmas movies that are well-loved in every state.
"We ran the top 25 films from IMDb's Top 100 Christmas movies of all-time list through every state on Google Trends, and the results suggest this nation might agree on something."
As I was growing up, I always loved watching The Polar Express.
You would think since The Polar Express was set and created in Grand Rapids, that would be the number-one movie in Michigan.
But you would be incorrect.
Drum roll, please...
The most popular Christmas movie for the state of Michigan and 39 other states is National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation.
According to Rotten Tomatoes, National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is
"As the holidays approach, Clark Griswold wants to have a perfect family Christmas, so he pesters his wife, Ellen, and children, as he tries to make sure everything is in line, including the tree and house decorations. However, things go awry quickly. His hick cousin, Eddie, and his family show up unplanned and start living in their camper on the Griswold property. Even worse, Clark's employers renege on the holiday bonus he needs."
I am appalled. Flabbergasted if you will.
""Christmas Vacation" is the most popular Christmas movie in the U.S., with 40 states Googling the film the most."
While National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation is a superior Christmas movie, The Polar Christmas is a much more Michigan-centric film.
With all of the different Michigan references in The Polar Express, it should definitely be the most popular Christmas movie.
