Here's something to think about while you watch the snow come down. Complex.com has compiled their lists of best "dive bars".  Which one is your favorite? Are there still "dive bars" around, or have they all gussied up?

Just so we define of terms here, to quote the article on Complex.com: "a good dive bar provides an authentic, if a little dingy, experience. From the jukebox that features songs only the staff likes, to the pool table worn ratty with overuse, to bathrooms that have seen more action than Wilt Chamberlain, a good dive bar doesn’t just serve cheap drinks—it serves a dose of reality in a world that feels increasingly like it was created by a marketing firm."

Can't say I've been to any on Complex's list, but there used to some great one's around these parts. Just down the street was the Gull Road Tavern, but while there are signs that someone might be trying to re-hab and re-open it, so far, nothing.

Fifteen years ago or so, the Green Top, downtown on Michigan Ave. was certainly that. But, bless 'em, they got a plumber and cleaned out the toilets and from all reports the Green Top has definitely cleaned up.

I've never been to the Duck Inn- Waddle Out, over next to the Fairgrounds, but many friends have been and they might get more than a few votes.

I spent more than a fair amount of time at Louie's, on the north side, Before Louie sold it to the current owner, it fit more than a few of the criteria listed above. The women's bathroom was legendary for it's lack of heat. There were no TV's back then, and the hours it was open, 'til 7p weeknights and closed on Saturday and Sunday. And still, having said all that, it was, and might still be, the best bar in town. There are multiple TV's now, live entertainment and a really good menu. Even beers that aren't just Bud, Miller or PBR. "Cheers" lives.

So you tell us. What's the best dive bar in town?
