It was a time long ago and but not far away; Just the other side of the building here. Seeing that Firehouse was playing with Bret Michaels at the Allegan County Fair brings back memories for me.

Firehouse was one of the best "hair" bands of the early 90's. And we used to have an in-ground pool here. And we invited them to play a pool party for our listeners when they were in town. And one of our guys had been to Japan (where he now has lived for some twenty years) and he had one of the first hand held video cameras.

Firehouse were good guys. Still are. C.J. Snare, the lead singer made girls' hearts flutter (as you can see in the video, he didn't take that too seriously) As I said, he was a good guy, so were the others. The band played harder rock, but their hits were power ballads, "Love of a Lifetime, I Live My Life For You, and Don't Treat Me Bad was their first hit.

Flash forward to this decade: My son David was working at the Iowa State Fair a couple of summers ago, and hung out with the band, and they were great to him and remembered the pool party. Then last summer at Ribfest, I ran into bass player Perry Richardson, who's now playing with country artist Craig Morgan.
