I have been in the situation where I heard tornado sirens and I was living on the third floor of an apartment building. It wasn't fun, and I never knew what to do!

Also I remember there being a lot of kids who lived in my apartment building, and I would hate to hear about anything bad happening to any kid. Apartmentsearch.com put together what to do when bad weather such as a tornado is close.

They say go to the lowest level of the building that you can immediately! This could be under a parking garage or maybe in a neighbor's apartment. If you don't have enough time to make it downstairs, a place in the hallway in the center of the building would be the next safest place.

Once you have found your safe place, cover yourself up with pillows, blankets, or even a mattress to protect yourself from falling objects. Putting on a bike helmet or any sort of padding or safety gear wouldn't be a bad idea!

Hopefully that helps you out a bit so when you are in the situation of really, really bad weather, you know exactly what to do!
