What Kind of Spider Is This? (UPDATE)

This is the creepiest spider I've ever seen and it's family is all over the outside of my house.  Does anyone know anything about it?

We have many different kinds of spiders popping up in our basement and garage lately.  But the spiders that are creeping me out the most would be the ones that build their homes right above my front and back doors.  They look like they are part Octopus and part alien.
