[Update] “She now dances among angels” Eight Year Old ‘Princess’ Lacey Succumbs to Cancer

Sometimes there's isn't a happy ending. But how much love and good will was shared along the way. Lacey Holsworth -- "Princess Lacey" died overnight, her family  announced on Instagram.

A few weeks ago, wkfr.com featured a story about the friendship of Michigan State star forward Adreian Payne and 8-year-old Lacey Holsworth.

Lacey succumbed to an aggressive form of cancer called a neuroblastoma. She and Payne met two years ago, when he was touring her hospital. The two became friends, and Lacey even helped Payne cut down the nets after Michigan State won this years Big Ten championship:

Payne has also attended a fund-raiser for her. "Lacey is a special friend," he says. "She's like a sister to me. ... She has taught me to fight through everything."

"Adriean is my brother," says Lacey. "I just think of him when I smile."

Fox Sports reported "Jay Bilas, a college basketball analyst for ESPN, has more than 67,000 followers on Twitter, but he follows only one."
