According to The Detroit Free Press, in celebration of St. Patrick's Day on Thursday, genealogical research website Ancestry.com is making 10 million Catholic parish records from Ireland, some of which date to 1655, available online for free this week to help people trace their Irish heritage. The information includes baptism, confirmation, marriage, and burial records from more than 1,000 parishes. About 10 percent of America's population claims Irish ancestry.
