With news of Tom Petty suffering cardiac arrest, we remember his music with a look back a some of his memorable concerts around Michigan.

His First Michigan Show

According to Setlist.fm, the first time Tom Petty played Michigan was March 5, 1977 in Royal Oak. He played a short set including American Girl and I Need to Know.

The bill also contained Cheap Trick.

You're Gonna Get it Tour

The next year, Tom Petty played Pease Auditorium on the campus of Eastern Michigan University. The setlist for that show is incomplete and includes only 'Anything that's Rock and Roll'

The Grand Rapids Tour Kickoff Shows

Tom Petty and the Heartbeakers kicked off three tours, according to MLive which reported prior to a 2008 show,

These roots-rocking guys have used Van Andel Arena as a home base for North American tours twice and will kick off yet another musical trek Friday in Grand Rapids in front of yet another sellout crowd.

"He (Petty) always does well in Michigan. We've been playing there for a long time now," Jim Lenahan, Petty's veteran set and light designer, said by phone from Los Angeles last week during a break in tour rehearsals.
