He was born here, he plans to die here; Tyler Roy's love for Michigan runs deep. Hear his original Michigan song "Northern Ground."

From the opening line "I can show on my right hand all the places I've been," you know this is a song about the Great Lakes State. Born and raised in Battle Creek, Tyler Roy loves to go to his family's cabin up North. Calling it "God's country," Tyler and co-writer Clayton W. Sawyer talk about all the places to go and the things to do in Michigan:

I climbed Sleeping Bear Dunes

kayaked around Pictured Rocks

I've hunted whitetail deer

caught bluegills from the docks

And the hook is that loyalty extends even to death- here's the chorus:

When it's my time to go

there's no place I'd rather be

Covered a lot of Northern ground

one day it will cover me

It will cover me

Take a look at Tyler's performance of the full song below and follow him on Facebook. He's always been a big fan of and is very active in the Southwest Michigan country music scene. Tyler Roy plans on getting into the studio soon to record a fully produced version of "Northern Ground."
