National Pretzel Day happens once a year how are you going to celebrate?

Kalamazoo has two incredible places that make the famous and delicious soft pretzel!

The history of the Pretzel can not be completely traced, but there are some ideas. History.com states that...

Though the exact origins of the pretzel remain mysterious, legend has it that the story began around A.D. 610, when Italian monks presented their young students with treats of baked dough twisted in the shape of crossed arms. At the time, crossing one’s arms was the traditional posture for prayer. As the custom spread through medieval Europe, the pretzel’s three holes came to represent the Holy Trinity—Father, Son and Holy Spirit—and the twisty baked good became associated with good luck, long life and prosperity

The delicious salty (and sometimes sweet) doughy treat, is rumored to arrive in America on the Mayflower. Also, to make a pretzel by hand can take up to 40 minutes. Lucky we live in a time, that we don't have to 40 minutes to enjoy a warm pretzel.

Wetzel's Pretzels

The other grand pretzel place in Kalamazoo is Wetzel's Pretzels. You can find them at Crossroads Mall (level 1 near Macy's) and this is a diffident go to place when hanging out at the mall.

According to Wetzel's Pretzels located in Crossroads Mall claims...

It takes a twisted mind to bake a soft, chewy pretzel with ingredients like sun-dried tomato and pesto or ham and cheese. But then again, Wetzel’s is a company filled with unconventional thinkers. Which is why people all over the world go through their day craving crazy concoctions like Jalapeño Cheese Dogs, Frozen Wild Cherry Lemonade and Sinful Cinnamon Pretzels.
