Growing up on the east side of the state, there was one road everyone feared driving on depending on which season we were in. Mound Rd is synonymous with potholes and car damage. If you've never driven this stretch of road, consider yourself lucky. In fact, it always felt like the road was in a perpetual state of construction with no real progress ever being made; until now.

On Monday, Congress agreed to fork over $97.8 million to repair a 9 mile stretch of road between I-696 to Hall Rd/M-59. Mound runs through Warren and Sterling Heights, the third and fourth largest cities in the state and the project is expected to begin starting in 2020. This is apparently the largest federal grant for a non-federal road according to federal transportation officials, as reported by Freep.
