Bringing home the only gold medal from the Great American Beer Festival was Grand Rapids' Mitten Brewing for it's West Coast Swing Amber Ale.

Local beer dynamo Bell's picked up a Silver medal in the Double Hoppy Red Ale category with its Roundhouse Ale.

Founders in Grand Rapids won a Silver medal for its Breakfast Stout and another for it's Porter.

Wolverine State Brewing in Ann Arbor raised some eyebrows (and some glasses) with two medals; a Silver for it's NZ Pils and a Bronze for it's Raucher.

Thornapple Brewing in Grand Rapids collected a Silver medal for My Brown Eyed Girl,

Kung Fu Smurf picked up a Silver medal for Bastone Brewery in Royal Oak, while Brew Detroit got a bronze for its Cerveza DelRay.

What really jumps out at you is how many brewers there are in the country now; and keep in mind, a lot of great beers don't even enter this competition. Many only send  only send on of their experimental entries. Here's a link to the complete list of awards.
