AMC on Portage road has closed its doors for good.

Four months after the Alamo Drafthouse shut it's doors in downtown Kalamazoo, the biggest movie chain in the country is taking its place.

The cold, harsh reality of Kalamazoo losing its Alamo Drafthouse Cinema was felt around the city yesterday (March 28) afternoon as the theater marquee containing the Alamo name was torn down.

As the final days inch closer for the Alamo Drafthouse they're dismantling their kitchen.  What does this mean for you if you watch a movie at Alamo right now?

The closing of Alamo Drafthouse Kalamazoo leaves space for some new entertainment ideas downtown. Here's what we'd like to see.

Ultimately it's brick, mortar, glass and neon, but In it's short three year run, the Alamo Drafthouse developed an intensely loyal following. And that fan base has been quick to share it sadness and disappointment at the news that the theatre complex is closing April 3rd.

Attention muggles and mudbloods: Alamo Drafhouse Cinema is bringing all 7 Harry Potter films to the big screen from October 28-31.

The Alamo Drafthouse in downtown Kalamazoo is paying tribute to actor Gene Wilder, who died earlier this week with screening of two of his films, Blazing Saddles tonight (9/2) and Stir Crazy Saturday (9/3) evening. Both showtimes are 7:00 pm.

Next month, Alamo Drafthouse locations across America, including Kalamazoo, are celebrating director Tim Burton with Septemburton! And the peasants rejoice. Although hit-and-miss in recent years,Tim Burton is the master at tugging on the heartstrings of the misfits, oddballs, and disenfranchised.

It has some big stars and it got good reviews, but it never became a hit and disappeared. But next weekend, there will be two showings of "Kalamazoo?" at the Alamo Drafthouse.
