Two West Michigan Locations of Sophia's House of Pancakes in West Michigan fined $245,000 for wage violations.

Sophia's House of Pancakes in Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor have been charging their employees to work.  Employees of these 2 locations were forced to pay the restaurant $2/hr from their tips.

According to Fox 17 Online,

John and Peter Philis have been ordered by a federal judge to pay $245,000 in back wages and damages to 118 employees of Sophia’s House of Pancakes in Kalamazoo and Benton Harbor. Peter Philis was also found to have discriminated against the server who reported the violations to the Labor Department.

The owners were also penalized for other infractions which include deducting employee's pay for uniforms, not paying employees overtime and more.
