“Single” No Way!

So, I was watching the Steve Harvey-Family Feud and he was talking to a family and of course he was introducing each member and he asked one of the brother's "are you singe?" And the brother said "Yes" and this was a good looking guy, so Steve was trying to get him a date out in the crowd.

Well, once that started his sister-in-law spoke up and said "He has a girlfriend." What? This is what I don't get! My friend dated a guy for 2 years and he considered himself single, because he wasn't married.

This just sends the wrong message. If you tell someone of the opposite sex that you are single then they may pursue you. There is no indicator that you are actually "taken." Besides that the person that you have been dating for a long time is introduced to others as your "friend.' No Way. I would not be cool with that!!!
