Advice is like belly-buttons. Everybody's got one. But Mark Cuban's been through this "becoming a billionaire" routine. You don't see me on Shark Tank. He's got some advice.

Cuban, who got rich with the Internet's  "dot com" boom offers up some tips.

  • Hire a good tax attorney.
  • Cuban's say don't take the lump sum. (I think I'd ask the tax attorney for an opinion.)
  • Tell your friends and relatives "No!". You already know who needs how much. And no one "needs" a million dollars.

Here's the one that I found brilliant: Cuban said in a podcast,

  • "If you weren't happy yesterday, you won't be happy tomorrow. It's money. It's not happiness."
  • "If you were happy yesterday, you are going to be a lot happier tomorrow. It's money. Life gets easier when you don't have to worry about the bills."

Good Luck. As I'm typing this, the pot is up to $1.5 Billion.
