The Royal Starr Arts Institute, a non-profit arts organization, is hosting a filmmaker networking event in Royal Oak every month. The Filmmaker Community Mixer is on the second Tuesday of every month at Hamlin Corner in Royal Oak. The next mixer will be held on January 8th at 7pm at Hamlin Corner (386 N Main St, Royal Oak, MI 48067), according to a press release.

There's no charge for admission and attendees are encouraged to bring their business cards and head-shots. Attendees will meet other filmmakers and film professionals from the Metro area, and local directors will be accepting head-shots for upcoming films. This month, photographer Brent Short will be taking head-shots at the event. Royal Starr Arts Institute President, Luke Castle commented on his goal to fortify the film-making community in Michigan:

We really want to strengthen the film-making community here in Michigan, and we can do that by connecting filmmakers. I'm looking forward to the continue growth of the Royal Starr Arts Institute. The Monthly Filmmaker Mixers where great success last year. This year we are adding RSAI Memberships as a way to support our ongoing mission to support our local artist while bringing them discounts and benefits with area businesses.
