Battle Creek Police issued a cautionary advisory Monday morning, warning drivers to slow down and drive only as fast as winter conditions will allow.

Lake effect snow showers - some of them very localized - were causing difficult driving conditions on some parts of I-94 in Calhoun County, as well as along M-66.

Forecasters say chances for lake effect showers won't bring much over the next few days, but even a dusting can cause slippery conditions for drivers. Road crews have not been dropping as much salt, since subzero temperatures make it less effective.
