It was a hot, emotional, motivational and peaceful Black Lives Rally at Bronson Park in Kalamazoo Friday afternoon.

The sun beat down on Bronson park as the very mixed crowd gathered.  Black, White, Latino, Asian...you name it.  It was an inspirational show of solidarity of the Kalamazoo community.  Scroll through the pictures below.

I saw people of every race, gender and orientation come together for this cause.  I saw a police presence of black and white officers smiling and relaxed.  I saw what I can only assume were federal agents with ear pieces and dressed like they came straight of the the TV show Criminal Minds.  I saw Michigan Militia with their flag, but still peace.  I saw a convoy of SUV's drive around Bronson Park making "Blue Lives Matter" statements through out the event.  Still, peace.  This...is #KalamazooStrong!

I could not be more proud of Kalamazoo.  It was more than just peaceful, it was unity.  I pray for the day that everyone understands that Black Lives Matter is not anti Blue Lives Matter.

I personally shook the hands and hugged strangers Friday in Bronson park.  Those strangers included black and white law enforcement as well as black protesters.

I can not walk in the shoes of a police officer or a black man.  But I can be an ally of both.  Because they are both my neighbors.
