Package Liquor Sales in Michigan Hit $1 Billion Mark
We know Michigan loves its craft beer, now spending on package liquor has topped one billion dollars for the first time.
MLive cites State of Michigan data showing "sales of packaged liquor, which is sold in sealed bottles to be consumed off-site, last year were 26 percent higher than in 2010."
Where are people buying? Chain stores like Meijer and Kroeger account for 15% of the state's sales.
Why are package liquor sales so high? It could be a combination of the wider selection of spirits available and the growing tendency of more people drinking at home.
