MLive cites State of Michigan data showing "sales of packaged liquor, which is sold in sealed bottles to be consumed off-site, last year were 26 percent higher than in 2010."

What are people buying? Business Insider says Jim Beam is Michigan's most popular and barstoolsports.com backs that up.

Where are people buying? Chain stores like Meijer and Kroeger account for 15% of the state's sales.

Why are package liquor sales so high? It could be a combination of the wider selection of spirits available and the growing tendency of more people drinking at home.
