Love seems to be in the air for exes Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry.

Amid rumors that the pair are a couple once more, the actor gushed about his pop star girlfriend to U.K. newspaper The Times, calling Perry a "remarkable human being."

Bloom, who admitted that he wasn't "overly familiar with her artistic endeavors" when the two first met, reveals that he originally didn't anticipate he and Perry would come together.

"I wouldn’t have imagined anything happening. And, you know, when you get hit sideways you get hit sideways. You don’t pick who you fall in love with," he explaining, insisting that he and Perry have a "really remarkable connection" despite their conflicting schedules.

"She’s on tour, I’m doing a play, everything evolves. I have a lot of respect for her and a lot of deep feeling. So we will see," he added.

PEOPLE recently reported that Perry and Bloom are "dating exclusively again" and that "things seem more serious" this time around.

Bloom and Perry first began dating following the Golden Globe Awards in 2016. The couple confirmed their split in February 2017.
