The repairs are finished, but you'll have to deal with the inconvenience a little longer.

The gas main leaks at Oakland Drive and Howard Street have been fixed, but the pavement that had to be dug up to access to gas lines needs to be resurfaced, and that work will continue through the weekend, and the intersection should be open again on Monday, February 25th, according to an MLive story.

The story quotes a Consumers Energy spokesperson, Roger Morgenstern, as saying the likely cause was a combination of cold temperatures and the extreme temperature changes we've been experiencing in the past month.

The first leak, that initially closed down the intersection, was discovered on Tuesday. Then, the following day, a second leak was found nearby.

The City of Kalamazoo's Public Services Director, Jim Baker told MLive the city hopes to have resurfacing work on the intersection done over the weekend, and without any further problems, the intersection should be open by morning drive on Monday.
