Michigan Activists Hold A ‘Die-In’ At The Capitol In Lansing

In the wake of two Kalamazoo teens that were killed by guns on Monday, WWMT reported that the 'Michigan Coalition to Prevent Gun Violence' will be holding a "Die-In" today outside our states Capitol.

According to WWMT...

"The group will hold a "die-in" outside the capitol in Lansing to symbolize the 91 people who are killed every day by guns.

The legislature is back in session Wednesday and organizers are hoping the display will help them see the need for stronger gun laws."

I found this to be an interesting tactic, to prevent gun violence but I really didn't know what a "Die-In" is so I goggled it. According to Wikipedia (which I know we all have to take with a grain of salt because anyone can post on the site) a 'Die-In' is...

"A die-in, sometimes known as a lie-in, is a form of protest in which participants simulate being dead.^[1] Die-ins are a tactic that has been used by a variety of protest groups including animal rights activists,^[2] peace activists, human rights activists,^[3]AIDS activists,^[4]gun control activists^[5] and environmental activists.^[6]Often, protesters occupy an area for a short time instead of being forced to leave by the police."

The rally is planned for 12:20 today, it will be interesting to see the reaction of the legislature. Also, I am curious to see if these actions will stronger laws into action.
