An animal-cruelty case overwhelms Lenawee Humane Society and they need help!

The Lenawee Humane investigated an animal-cruelty case that led to the removal of...

  • 200 Dogs
  • 32 Horses
  • 5 Cats
  • 2 Peacocks

According to the Detroit Free Press...

As temperatures dipped below zero last week, the Lenawee County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a home on the 8800 block of Shepherd Road, where many of the animals were being kept in "extremely poor conditions," outdoors or in unheated areas in crate. Undersheriff Troy Bevier said Friday that animals' water was frozen and there was "kind of feces everywhere."

The Humane Society jumped into rescue mode and saved the animals but now they are faced with the challenge of caring for these sweet pets. After the Lenawee Humane Society posted the story on facebook other shelters and agencies have pitched in to help care for the 239 animals, but more help is needed.
