The closing of the Mackinac Bridge did not shrink crowds as thousands took part in a Michigan tradition; the annual Labor Day Bridge Walk.

Runners, walkers and Governor Snyder made up the crowd of 60,000 that crossed from Michigan's upper peninsula to the lower across the Mackinac Bridge.

Traffic problems were anticipated as the bridge was closed to vehicles for the first year ever, but Michigan Department of Transportation reports everything went well.
