This is the best. Mid-April. Time for the Stanley Cup Playoffs to begin. This is my Christmas and Fourth of July all wrapped up in one.

If you're a fan of the Blackhawks, like I am, or the Red Wings, you've had a taste of success. And while our teams may not win every year, they've won enough in recent times that we understand just how special it is. It's why my Facebook feed is filled with "25" logos, for the Red Wings making the playoffs again.

So (hopefully) for the next two months, I'll be sleep deprived. (BTW, I miss the Red Wings in the Western Conference. 7:00 games are sure better the 10:30pm games).

Finally, a couple of things to pass along. A well written piece, from one of my favorite columnists/bloggers, on just how hard it is to win, essentially trying to put into words why it is so special.

And from a separate piece, Scotty Bowman, the last Red Wings coach to repeat, said. “You don’t realize how hard it is go back-to-back until you do it. It’s all sports. You saw it in golf [Sunday] with Jordan Spieth at the Masters. It’s really difficult to repeat.”
