When the Kalamazoo Growlers put together their promotional calendar for the summer, they probably didn't think they were writing prophecy.

But take a look at the promotion they originally planned for today in the photo above —you'll get a laugh.

The local baseball team's promotional calendar said that today's originally scheduled game would be themed "Super Splash Day" with the "ballpark turned into waterpark!"

With one look at the field today, you could easily argue that the Homer Stryker field ballpark literally is a "waterpark," thanks to Mother Nature.

The flooding on the field happened over the weekend as a result of the nearby Kalamazoo River flooding. Due to unplayable field conditions, the Kalamazoo Growlers cancelled their weekend games against the Lakeshore Chinooks.

That's another funny point to let sink in: the Growlers were scheduled to play a team called the "Chinooks" — as in river salmon!

Alanis Morissette may simply call it "ironic," but I may be calling the Growlers to have them predict the next lottery numbers.

IF YOU HAD TICKETS:

Fans with tickets to any of the three canceled games can exchange them at the Homer Stryker Field box office for any other remaining Growlers regular season home game. For the rescheduling of special group accommodations please contact the Growlers office at (269) 492-9966.
