Today from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. in Battle Creek the Homeless Health Fair/ VA Stand Down returns to give the less fortunate of Calhoun County a day of comfort.

Volunteers from around the area will be donating blankets, handing out food bags and performing haircuts to homeless families, veterans, and those who have recently gotten back on their feet Free flu shots will also be given out today from Walgreens.

The event itself is organised by the Calhoun County Homeless Coalition, which consists of about 20 different community organizations, including the City of Battle Creek. Everyone who attends will receive two bags of groceries, which were arranged by the Food Bank of South Central Michigan. There will also be breakfast and lunch provided by local churches.
