75 MPH Speed Limit To Become Reality in Parts of Michigan
No, you can't drive 75 (mph) just yet. But with Governor Rick Snyder's signature today, we are a step closer to being able to do so in some parts of the state.
Here's the kicker. Engineering and safety studies need to be done first before speed limits are raised on qualifying roads. Don't expect to see the 75 mph speed limit anywhere near Kalamazoo nor Battle Creek. However, when you head up north, you may be enjoying driving the new legal limit. The Detroit News reports that US 131 north of Kent County, US 27 near Clare and parts of I-75 near there are all candidates for the higher speed limit.
And maybe, as a trade off, the speed limit on gravel roads is going down to 45 mph.
