Offensive? Insensitive? Kalamazoo does not agree with HopCat's decision to rename crack fries. See what Facebook has to say.

HopCat has announced on their website they are changing the name of their signature french fries, best known as "crack fries."

We chose the name more than 11 years ago as a reference to the addictive quality of the fries and their cracked pepper seasoning, without consideration for those the drug negatively affected. We were wrong.

The national wave of political correctness has not washed over Kalamazoo. MLive published a story with the news and Kalamazoo reacted. Here are some of the Facebook comments:

  • Oh boy
  • so you serve addictive substances like beer and fatty foods that actually hurt people but that name "crack fries' is ruining the city and hurting people..lol
  • Lame.keep it crack fries
  • This is getting ridiculous. They are fries!! People need to stop taking everything so personal!
  • I really wish there was a crying snowflake emoji...
  • PC Fries, no thanks

The company has not unveiled a new name yet, but Facebookers are on that too, suggesting HopFries, Publicity Stunt Fries or (my favorite) Drunk Fries!

See how they got their name in the video below and tell us in the comments what you think of the decision.
