Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 adds a few intriguing wrinkles into everything we thought we knew about the Universe’s most dysfunctional heroes. For one thing, we’re finally going to meet Peter Quill’s dad Ego the Living Planet who, until now, has been kept a mystery (unless you’ve read the comics). But there’s another interesting development in place: Nebula, Gamora’s blue-headed adopted sister and fellow daughter of Thanos, seems to have joined up with the Guardians. And, at first, it doesn’t go so well.

The new TV spot shows just how tricky it can be to bring estranged family members back together, especially when you have a galaxy to save (again). Siblings fight all the time, sure, but these two tend to take it to the next level. At one point, Nebula steals the Milano and tries to run her sister down with it. Imagine trying to do the superhero thing while two members of your team are constantly at each other’s throats.

In the first Guardians, Nebula and Gamora constantly vied for Thanos’ approval, but Gamora ended up betraying them to join Peter and his crew. Why Nebula also jumped ship is a little bit of a mystery — maybe Thanos’ plans were a little too scary? Maybe she made him mad and he exiled her? We’ll find out soon enough, as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 hits theaters May 5.

Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos. The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.
