Nothing says Earth Day like real 'Zoo Poo'

This is no joke, the Detroit Zoo will be giving out five-gallon buckets of animal manure to the first 1,000 guest on April 14th that take part in the 'GreenFest'. Many people use the poop for composting and this is a great opportunity to get the best quality poop available for FREE!

The Oakland Press is reporting that...

The event is an early celebration of Earth Day from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 14 and features a sustainability tour and environmental education. Free “Zoo Poo” goes to the first 1,000 guests to visit the zoo’s anaerobic digester educational display.

Along with all the events that you and your family can take part in, the Detroit Zoo is also doing their part to take care of the environment. The Oakland Press reported that...

the green efforts at the zoo include diverting 60,000 plastic bottles from of the waste stream annually by discontinuing the sale of bottled water on Detroit Zoo grounds and using permeable pavement in visitor pathways and a parking lot.

I think it is pretty impressive that the Zoo is doing for much for our environment as well as showing us how to be 'Green'.
