KALAMAZOO, MI — The flu is just arriving here, but the flu vaccine is temporarily in short supply as shipments of the multidose vaccine have been delayed, public health officials say.

Ample supplies are expected to be available by late November or early December.

Khim Peoples, director of pediatrics at Borgess Health, said there is an ample supply of vaccine for children under age 3 or those who can have the flu mist, but "the pediatric offices are in short supply of injectable (vaccine) right now." She said Borgess pediatric offices in the region have vaccinated close to 500 children, but an additional 100 are on a waiting list.

"We have taken names," Peoples said, "and will be contacting those families when the vaccine comes in."
