While Western Michigan University's undefeated 2016 campaign will be the most told football story this season, Eastern Michigan University's program made some history as well, earning just the 3rd bowl game in the school's history and first in 30 years.

EMU has been awarded a spot in the Popeyes Bahamas Bowl against Old Dominion University, after finishing the season at 7-5, capping their season with a win over Central Michigan. The 7 wins are the school's most wins since 1989. The team gathered to learn the news of where they would be headed and exploded in celebration as the first strains of Bob Marley's "Jamming" begin with scenes from the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas.

The only other bowl in EMU's history as a Division I was a 30-27 win over San Jose State in the 1987 California Bowl. The Eagles (Hurons, at the time) played as a Division II school in the inaugural Pioneer Bowl in 1971 against Louisiana Teach, a 14-3 loss.
