Ellen's controversial joke could end up costing her

Warner Bros. might have to pay a high price for a joke she made on her show back in February. During a segment about funny signs, DeGeneres aired a picture of a sign a viewer sent in for Georgia real estate agent Titi Pierce.

Because its Ellen, she referred to the woman as "Titty" Pierce, and Titi Pierce did not find it funny so she filed a lawsuit. Her name is actually pronounced "Tee Tee ... as grammar dictates," and "in all of her 35 years of life, no one has ever referred to Ms. Pierce as 'titty' until the Defendant did so on national television." - Yahoo

The suit, which was filed against Warner Bros. because it's the Ellen Show's parent company, claims DeGeneres' producers didn't blur out Pierce's cell phone number on the sign, and Pierce got a bunch of "ridiculous and harassing" calls afterward.

Pierce’s attorney Stacey Godfrey Evans says, Pierce wants to “stand up and say this is wrong and this not how we treat people. We need to be more thoughtful than this.” Ellen executive producers responded to the lawsuit, saying, “We try to have fun every day and make people laugh and never intend to hurt anyone’s feelings.”

I understand that the woman is embarrassed but, it was a joke.  have a little humor people.  I think that if Titi Pierce would have reached out to Ellen's producers, they would have made it up to her somehow.  Maybe with an appearance on an upcoming show with a funny bit about what happened, a new number...something.
