Can You Really Not Pay For Meal Over The Phone?

My Family was out in St. Clair Shores celebrating my Dads Birthday, and as a surprise I called the restaurant to pay for the dinner and the establishment  would not allow me to do that.

Living just under 3 hours away from my parents and it was a Tuesday night, I was not able to go to my Fathers Birthday Dinner. So I thought, heck, I will buy dinner but when I called the manager said they would not take my credit card, or debit card....WHAT?!?

I have been a bartender, a waitress and a Manager for a major restaurant chain and never once was someone denied the chance to pay over the phone. Heck, just last week I ordered Jets pizza and they didn't even flinch at the idea of a phone payment.

Have you had this happen to you?

I suppose the only good thing that came out of it was the waitress told my parents I called and try to pay...at least I got a little credit.
