With the tragedy in Parkland, Florida just the latest horrific event in a long string of school shootings, MIchigan students are being reminded of the OK2SAY tipline.

The OK2SAY tipline is a confidential way for students to report anything they feel threatens their safety or the safety of others. Tips can be submitted using text message, telephone, mobile app, using email, or the OK2SAY website.

A hero doesn't necessarily have to wear a cape and tights, maybe a hero speaks up for what's right. Maybe that hero could be you. If you see or hear something that doesn't seem right, you can submit a confidential tip to OK2SAY. OK2SAY allows anyone to confidentially report tips on criminal activities or potential harm directed at Michigan students, school employees, or schools.

Protect yourself and others by using OK2SAY. Because if you won't, who will? - OK2SAY website

The Michigan Attorney General's offices says, "in the majority of violent school incidents, someone knew about the threat before it was carried out, but they failed to report it." The reasons for this mostly fear of retaliation, rejection, or being labeled by fellow students.  The release goes on to say "the result is a culture of silence in which students suffer harm that could have been prevented if another had chosen to speak out."
