It was announced earlier this year that for the first time ever, the Kalamazoo area was gonna be home to a Buddy's Pizza in Portage, serving up Detroit Style pizza. This is a HUGE favorite to east-siders and quickly found a home on Westnedge Ave. But now Kalamazoo is gonna get a new taste of New York as Benny DiCarta's has finally opened it's doors to the public on 232 E. Michigan Ave. The pandemic kind of put a halt to the pizza shop which led a lot of people wondering if they were ever gonna open.

The wait has ended and people are already getting excited about trying their 28" pizza with massive slice sizes, in classic New York form. Here's Downtown Kalamazoo featuring them on their Instagram:

Benny DiCarta's main attraction is their extra large 28" pizza, which is also sold by the slice, and is sold the following ways:
Cheese: $30
Pepperoni: $38
Sausage: $38
Veggie & Meat: $38
That's one BIG pie. People are already beginning to talk about it on Reddit, saying:

Was just there it was like $5 per slice. Pretty good pizza. Not super thin. Folding was my strategy. It was almost firm enough not to fold.

The new pizza shop resides in the building that was once the now closed Kelvin & Co and before that the old Main Street. I plan on checking this place out this weekend.
