Ready For A COLD Winter? Temps As Low As 40 Below Predicted Around Kalamazoo in February 2017
Are you ready for an “exceptionally cold” winter? The 2017 Farmer’s Almanac was just released and it’s looking very cold weather for our area of the country.
“Return of the Ice Cold Winter”
This isn't that surprising since weather officials have been predicting a La Nina event to start this fall. La Ninas are the flip version of El Nino which is coming to a finish. El Nino resulted in a milder-than-normal winter for most of the U.S. last year.
The Almanac bases its prediction off an almost 200-year-old formula. It warns for residents living in the Northern Plains, Ohio Valley, Great Lakes region, Midwest, Middle Atlantic, as well as, the Northeast and New England states to brace for a winter of exceptionally cold conditions.
“February is the month to really be ready for cold conditions,” warns Editor Peter Geiger, Philom., “according to our long-range outlook, many places will see downright frigid temperatures this month, some as low as 40 degrees below zero!”
If you want to avoid such a cold winter, it looks like you’ll want to head west. The 2017 Farmer’s Almanac is predicting a warmer-than-normal winter for Western states.
