This is not for the squeamish.

I've always been told NOT to bite or pick at a hangnail.  I've always listened - until now.  It started to bother me and get caught on my clothes so, I said, "off you go"!  Stupid idea.  For the next two to three days, my finger was swollen, tender and even had a green tint near my nail.

I asked Will if he had ever seen anything like it and he responded, "Oh yeah, I just had the same thing happen to me.  Once it turned green, I started picking at it and the hangnail just shot out."  I thought I had already gotten rid of the hangnail.

I put some Neosporin on it and covered it with a band-aid for a few hours.  I took it off because my finger felt pruney, squeezed it and this neon green goo popped out.  My first thought was, "Oh yeah, aliens...I WAS abducted and they are sending me a sign." (By now, I hope, you know I'm not serious). Then, I remembered what Will was talking about.  I love popping zits (weird, I know) so I don't get grossed out by much but this one takes the cake.

I put some peroxide on it after I stared at the puss for 20 minutes...ha ha.  It completely healed in about three days.  Here's more info on Paronychia, the technical term for infected hangnails.
