If you are able to safely travel, Michigan Blood is asking for people to go to one of its donation sites. Michigan Blood wants to ensure it has the blood supply the injured patients may need for treatment.

Michigan Blood said it needs all types of blood — especially the universal-donor, O negative.

In the Kalamazoo area, the main donation center is located at 524 East Milham Ave., Portage, 49002. It's open noon to 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday and noon to 7 p.m. Tuesday. You can contact the center at (269) 382-3879.
