A ‘Peeping Tom’ Has Been Arrested For Filming Women At The Kalamazoo YMCA
Kalamazoo County Prosecutor Jeff Getting said an employee of the YMCA put a camera in the woman's showers, and filmed the ladies.
The incident happened on August 18th, and after a lengthy investigation, 21 year old Gurkaran Singh was arrested for the crime.
WWMT.com quoted Prosecutor Jeff Getting as saying...
“We charged him with four offenses. First using a computer to commit a crime, that being a cell phone. Second, surveilling an unclothed person and two counts of each of those offenses because they involved two different victims."
One of the victims (I don't feel comfortable using her name) figured out what was happening and contacted Newschannel 3 for help.
The other Victim said she was "horrified" that Singh may get away with the crime. She stated her top concerns are...
- "he doesn't have any justice served"
- "this happens again"
Prosecutors assured the victims that they are taking this case very seriously. In fact they said...
“I find these kinds of cases very troubling because of the invasion of your privacy, your personal privacy," said Getting.
The Portage YMCA condemned the employees actions and the CEO stated...
"We are taking this situation very seriously and do all we can to make sure this type of incident does not occur. We want all members and families to feel safe at the Y at all times."
I hope the victims recover from this awful situation, and Singh (of course, if found guilty) goes away for a long time!
